The Heavy Events are back! This is not a sport for the weak nor is it a sport for the uninitiated. Lifting a caber and heaving it wrongly could damage not only the competitor but spectators too. Strength of character as well as strength of body are needed.

The Kansai Highland Games began in 1989 when I suddenly decided that Kansai should have its own Games and with the help of a few friends, we produced a very good first attempt. Each year we have continued to grow at an astonishing rate and now, as we approach our 17th annual Games, we have a total of 30 convenors working hard all year to bring the Games to you.

In true Scottish tradition, it is a day out for the entire family. Dad can visit the heavy events and the beer tent while Mum shops at the booths and watches the dancing. The children have the time of their lives, running, jumping, and bopping siblings/friends on the head with a pillow. So come! Join us! Bring your friends too and enjoy a day of Scottish sports, culture and entertainment.

We have come a long way since our very first Games here in 1989. Each year we grow a little more. We are so grateful to those who play an important part in this growth. Our Convenors must of course be congratulated for all the unceasing hard work that they put into simply producing the Games. Visitors too play their part and each year we welcome more and more visitors from more and more places. We hope to welcome you, too, this year.
